MEET THE WAGONERS
David, Amanda, Bam Bam & Pebbles
Amanda is an environmental scientist at a local consulting firm. “I love my job since it’s a mix of being in the office and out in the field: in the woods, streams, or wetlands.
She and her husband, David, have been married for 11 years. “It’s just us and our two fur-children (cats), Bam Bam & Pebbles,” says Amanda. “I enjoy sports, especially softball, scrapbooking, cooking, hiking, the holidays, and wine.”
David has worked for a government contract for almost 20 years. “I enjoy sports, video games, movies, and the 80’s.” Together, they built their home in 2017.
- How did you hear about Ritter Mortgage Group (RMG)?
Through Facebook – Melissa McGraw, shared it.
- How would you describe your overall experience working with RMG?
It was good. It was nice being able to sign all the paperwork electronically instead of printing everything out, signing, and scanning everything back in.
- Were there any unique challenges in your case?
Amanda – David was laid off for some time due to COVID, and I was concerned that would be an issue since we didn’t have paystubs from his company showing in our bank statements.
- Are you a native Marylander?
David – Yes, Amanda grew up in Jarrettsville, and I grew up in Edgewood.
- What do you like most about living in Maryland?
Amanda – Having all four seasons. I love spring and fall.
David – The sports teams and the history of them – and the food, especially crabs and crab cakes.
- What is your favorite hidden gem in your community?
Amanda – Swan Harbor Farms in Havre de Grace. It’s a beautiful county park to walk around, and you can get a great view of the water from the pier that is there. David and I got married there. My hidden gem business is Kirk’s Farm, which has a store in Forest Hill and is at the Bel Air Farmer’s Market. He has the best tomatoes and has such as great variety of produce from spring to winter.
David – It’s not really a hidden gem anymore, but Jarrettsville Creamery and Deli.
How has saving money on your mortgage had a positive impact on your family?
Amanda – We’ve only had one month of a lower mortgage, but we would like to split the money we will save to pay off a few bills, put money into savings, and put some extra on our new mortgage payment.
David – It has only been a month, but I’m sure it will do wonders. I’m hoping to be able to pay off some debt quicker and put some extra money back on our mortgage.
What is at the top of your bucket list?
Amanda – It’s a tie between going to the National Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown, going to Disney World again, and going to Scottsdale, Arizona for the Barrett-Jackson Auto Auction.
David – Going to Cooperstown, Fenway Park, and going parasailing.
Any other personal fun facts or information you’d like to share?
Amanda – I love supporting our local farmers and local businesses. We go to the Bel Air Farmers market each Saturday morning. We buy most of our meat from local farms as well. We both love movies and video games. One our friends jokes that we could have a “Blockbuster” store in our basement.
David – I enjoy making chocolates and have tried making pulled sugar. We both love to watch the Food Network to get new ideas of foods to try.
