Married for 11 years with 3 children, John and Erin Thate are kept busy with careers and family. John is in medical sales, and Erin is an elementary school teacher. Both enjoy time outside, visiting the beach, trying new recipes, and a good bottle of wine. But it’s no surprise that the most important thing to them is spending as much time as possible with their children.

How did you hear about Ritter Mortgage Group (RMG)?

About 12 years ago when we were looking for our first home, our realtor referred us to Jon Ritter. Since then Jon has been our “go to” guy for our mortgages!

What led you to choose RMG over other companies?

Jon has always been attentive to our needs and quick to respond when we ask him for something. He makes the process smooth and is always in contact with us through each step.

Anything new you learned through the process?

Jon was very informative so each time we have done a mortgage with him we learn something new.

What do you like most about living in Maryland?

We enjoy being able to experience all four seasons, spring, summer, fall, and winter.  In Maryland, of course, you could experience all seasons within the period of a few days, but it keeps us on our toes.

What is your favorite hidden gem (place to relax, place of business, etc) in your community?

We like to take a hike near the Gunpowder River. Our house is near a dead end that backs to the Gunpowder River. We have a trail that leads to the river, and it is beautiful for walking in all seasons.

What was your childhood ambition?

John-I always wanted to be a professional athlete. 

Erin-I always wanted to become a nurse, but once I was in nursing school, I changed my mind and became a teacher.

What has been the biggest challenge you have overcome and how did you overcome it?

We have everyday challenges but can’t say we have had to overcome any crazy big ones……thank goodness!
